Term 2: Safety and ethics

In this unit students will learn about honour based violence, forced marriages, breast ironing & child brides, online gambling & gaming, social media validation, keeping data safe, modern day slavery, causes of knife crime.

Term 4: Mental health and wellbeing

Following our spiral curriculum, term 4 focusses on different aspects of wellbeing in all year groups. In Year 10 this explores child abuse and child sexual exploitation (CSE), screen time & safe use of phones, common types of mental health, self harm, suicide, (thoughts and feelings) and promoting emotional wellbeing.

Terms 3: Sexual Ethics

This unit includes campaigning against female genital mutilation (FGM), sexting & nudes, pornography, domestic abuse and violence, relationships, sexual abuse and rape, sexualisation of the media.

Term 1: British Values, Religion and Society

This unit explores critical thinking and fake news, Religion Vs Cults, exploring Britishness and British values, LGBT rights and British values, what are human rights, exploring human rights.

Term 5: Islamic Beliefs

This unit gives students a valuable insight into the Islamic Faith, building on from students' understanding of Islam from KS3 RP. We will look at Muslim Beliefs about God, the differences between Sunni and Shi'a Islam, the role of angels in Islam, and ways in which Muslims practice their faith.

Term 6: Philosophy: Does it make sense to believe in God?

This unit explores key philosophical arguments for the existence of God and whether God created the world, the First Cause argument, miracles, revelation and enlightenment, and arguments against the existence of God: proof, faith, evil and suffering
