Drama Overview

Term 1: Status

Students will explore how a range of vocal, physical and staging techniques can be used to show status in a piece of drama. They will learn how status affects relationships.

Students are assessed holistically across all AOs through their performance work, contributions to class discussions and peer and self assessment.

Term 2: Romeo and Juliet

Students will explore some key scenes from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. They will learn how to interpret Shakespearean language and the key conventions of Elizabethan theatre.

Term 3: Melodrama

Students will explore the genre of Melodrama. They will learn how to use traditional conventions in a performance of The Black Hearted Villain.

Term 4: Devising

Students will explore how to use a range of stimuli as a starting point for creating drama. They will work in groups to use a range of skills to create an original piece.

Term 5: Missing Dan Nolan

Students will explore Theatre in Education piece Missing Dan Nolan. They will learn how various drama techniques help to communicate ideas to an audience.

Term 6: Theatre in Education

Students will create their own piece of Theatre in Education using a range of drama skills and techniques. They will understand how to adapt their skills to suit a specific target audience.
