In this unit students build on their prior knowledge of Judaism and now turn towards Christianity, with a focus on key Christian beliefs. They will use this knowledge in the coming terms to look at key philosophical and ethical/moral issues.

Using knowledge of Christian beliefs from last term, this unit looks at arguments for and against the existence of God as well the complex problem of evil and suffering.

Here we will apply Christian beliefs to key moral and ethical issues such as abortion, euthanasia and animal rights. Students will also complete a homework project focussing on religious attitudes towards the environment, conservation and stewardship.

Building on from students' knowledge of Judaism and Christianity from this year, students will now study the final of the Abrahamic faiths - Islam. We will cover key beliefs and apply these beliefs to ethical issues such as abortion, euthanasia and animal rights.

During this term students will complete their study of Islamic beliefs, revise key content from Year 8 and complete their end of year examination.

Year 8 RP will focus on the three Abrahamic faiths, following their study of Eastern religious beliefs and practices in Year 7. This unit will introduce students to key concepts such as covenant, kosher and sacrifice, which will allow students to build on their knowledge in the coming terms with Christianity and Islam, which stems from Judaism.
