In addition to regular vocabulary testing throughout the unit, the end of unit assessment will consist of:

Develop the individual:

Students will develop the following strategies: - listening to Spanish, a summary of the most useful strategies - comparing and contrasting viewpoints and adding your own opinion - extending vocabulary using a variety of techniques - dealing with A-level reading comprehension

Create a supportive community:

Students will develop their interests in Hispanic music which will further develop their understanding of colloquialisms and linguistic turns of phrase making them more relatable, and better able to communicate, to native speakers.

As well as regular vocabulary tests throughout the unit the end of unit assessment will consist of:

- reading and listening comprehension

- translation (Spanish to English)

- completing a speaking card task

Develop the individual:

Students will develop the following strategies in this unit of work: - using connectives to enhance written work - how to participate more fluently in a conversation, - translating accurately from English to Spanish - how to check your work for errors

Create a supportive community:

Students, through looking at Hispanic roles models will reflect on their own role models and what qualities constitute a good or bad influence on others.

Students will be tested on vocabulary throughout the unit. The end of unit assessment will comprise:

Develop the individual:

Students will develop the following strategies: - listening for the examination - answering questions in Spanish and drawing inferences - researching an event or series of events

Create a supportive community:

Students are introduced to Hispanic media and this increased exposure to native language speakers and TV and radio programmes allow students an insight into the different cultures and interest of Hispanic people.

Students will complete at least 3 essays on 'El laberinto del fauno' from a variety of question choices and they will complete a vocab and translation assessment.

Develop the individual:

Students will develop knowledge about matters central to the society and culture, past and present, of Hispanic countries. Students will also develop the ability to mediate between cultures and between speakers of the language and speakers of English.

Create a supportive community:

By studying film we are enabling students to equip themselves with transferable skills such as autonomy, resourcefulness, creativity, critical thinking, and linguistic, cultural and cognitive flexibility that will empower them to proceed to further study or employment.

Through the study of this unit the following strategies will be developed: - how to translate more accurately from English to Spanish - how to summarise information successfully - how to find and use relevant material online

Create a supportive community:

Students will learn about the impact of Spain being the second most visited country in the world. Tourism in Spain today is a major contributor to the national economic life accounting for 6.4% of Spain's GDP. This unit will allow students to reflect upon, and compare, their preconceptions of Spanish tourism.

Students will complete an end of unit assessment on content covered as well as regular vocabulary tests throughout the unit. The end of year assessment will consist of listening and reading comprehension questions and a short translation.

Students will develop the following strategies: - organising notes for A-Level - recognising cognates - memorising key vocabulary

Create a supportive community:

Students will become more sensitive to, and aware of, contemporary societal changes in Hispanic countries allowing them to reflect on the modern family unit in the United Kingdom.

Students will complete a short grammar test including gap fill tasks and translation.

Students will learn how to be more autonomous in the development of their grammatical knowledge. They will consider ways they can develop their linguistic knowledge outside of the classroom and develop their confidence in using a wider variety of grammar

Students will reflect on their own and others' linguistic acquisition.

Students will complete regular vocabulary tests throughout the unit. The end of unit assessment will consist of listening, reading, translation and speaking.

Students reflect on their own use of modern technology and the advantages and disadvantages of internet, smart phones and social media. They will consider what is healthy use of all of these things.
