Measuring the Impact of Our Careers Programme

We assess the effectiveness of our careers provision in a variety of ways throughout the academic year to ensure it meets the needs of all students and continuously evolves in line with best practice.

  • Gatsby Benchmark Evaluation - Our progress toward achieving all eight Gatsby Benchmarks is formally reviewed three times per year using the Compass+ evaluation tool. This process is carried out in partnership with the West of England Careers Hub and supports us in identifying strengths, areas for development, and opportunities for further improvement.
  • Destination Tracking We collect and monitor destination data for all Year 11 and Year 13 leavers, sharing this information with Bristol City Council in line with statutory reporting deadlines. Strong data‑sharing processes and an excellent working relationship with the Council enable us to accurately track student outcomes and provide targeted support to help young people secure further education, employment, or training.

Our most recent destination data can be viewed here.

  •  Future Skills Questionnaire - Each student completes the Future Skills Questionnaire once per academic year. This gives us valuable insight into their competencies, confidence levels, and aspirations, allowing us to measure the impact of our careers programme, identify areas where students may need additional support, and tailor our provision accordingly.
  • Student and Parent Voice - Students complete a whole‑school survey twice a year, with a dedicated section focused on careers. Parents are also invited to share their views on our programme in an annual parent survey. This feedback helps us evaluate how well our provision meets the needs of both students and families.
  • Employer Encounter Feedback via Unifrog - After attending employer talks, workshops, or encounters, students are asked to provide feedback through the Unifrog platform. This allows us to gather consistent, high‑quality insights into how useful and engaging students found each session, helping us evaluate the impact of employer encounters and refine future events.
  •  Event‑Specific Feedback - Following key careers events—including Year 10 Careers Day and Sixth Form Pastoral Days—we collect feedback from students, staff, and employers. This helps us measure the quality and relevance of the opportunities provided and informs planning for future events
